AAO PAC UPDATE AMERICAN ASSOCIATION OF ORTHODONTISTS’ POLITICAL ACTION COMMITTEE:
AAOPAC STRATEGIC PLAN The AAOPAC Board submitted a draft strategic plan to the Board of Trustees outlining its goals for fundraising and contributions for the 2006 election cycle. The Plan focused on increasing member involvement and awareness of the AAOPAC. It also focused attention on the mechanics of how the AAOPAC contributes to candidates—seeking to maximize the effectiveness of congressional contacts. The Board will review the plan and take final action during its November, 2005 meeting.
AAOPAC FUNDRAISING The AAOPAC is pleased to report that it has already broken the calendar-year fundraising record of $168,000 set in 2004. As of August 29, 2005, it has raised approximately $206,000. The AAOPAC is already active in the 2006 election cycle, having contributed $91,000 to candidates up for re-election.
